Born in Paris, France, and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Eka soon developed an inclination for the Arts, encouraged by an artist mother. EKA quickly began selling her first works to private and corporate collectors, which further motivated her to pursue her approach to painting.
"I have tried different mediums but working with oil painting is very unique. It's a perpetual challenge. The possibilities offered by the richness of the texture and the tones of the palette are infinite and can only be achieved by continuous exploration and creation."
If landscapes, animals and flowers contribute to her artistic vision and maturity, she takes as her primary subjects the themes of portraiture. The subtle balance between the historical tradition of portraiture and a contemporary style is a part of the evolutionary process of her work. Her figures are often positioned in their environment with a need to seize the essence of a time and place. Her desire is to give rise to feelings depicting the mystery of the character and mood of a story.
“My style is figurative and realistic, I use photographic references as a starting point, but I want every brushstroke to be not only visible, but also emotional. Tactile sensation is essential to me."
